What do you mean "Machine Type?"

In this field, you should include the kind of machine you are requesting an IP address for. You should give the brand name if you know it (e.g., Gateway, Compaq, Dell, HP, Sun, SGI, etc.) and the model name and number if applicable (e.g., E-4200, Presario 1900-XL163, O2, etc.). For computers, please at least specify whether this is for a desktop or portable (e.g., laptop) unit. For IP address requests for non-computer devices (e.g., printers or print server devices), please include the brand and model if you know them (e.g., HP LaserJet 8100 printer, HP JetDirect EX Plus print server, Lexmark MarkNet Pro3 print server, etc.).

You do NOT need to give specific details about the hardware configuration (e.g., hard drive, memory, video card, network card, hardware and firmware versions, etc.).

Specifics are not required but we do need to know, at least in general, what kind of machine you are requesting an IP address for. Sometimes "no-name PC clone I built myself" or "486 laptop" or "HP print server" will suffice if that's all you really know.
